FIX HER UP is a standalone read with a HEA. I LOVED this story. Every time I had to put it down all I could think of was getting back to it. I loved this hero. Noah is from a big family in a small town that owns the local hardware store. Noah and his partner own a construction company and Noah specializes in restoring old homes. He is single, big, gorgeous, smart and funny. He is 38 and had had his share of female companions but has never cared enough to marry one.Finley is 35, recently divorced. She was living in Texas with her husband of 10 years when she decided to start her life over in a new place, a new state and a new house. She buys a house on-line in New Hampshire, packs her trailer and moves. She bought the house "as is" and sight unseen. Something about the house just spoke to her. She knows it is in bad repair but she is hoping it is not too bad and she intends to completely redo the whole house herself. She has zero experience.
She is almost devastated when she sees the house. Having been sick with a cold for the past week, driving from Texas to New Hampshire and then finding the house a complete wreck she is about read to toss in the towel. She is in way over her head. Her real estate agent, Abby, knows that she desperately needs help, she also knows that her brother Noah is the perfect man to help her fix things.
When he goes to see the house and to offer Finley his expertise, he has no idea that he is about to change his life. I loved this guy. He was so great to Finley and when he realizes that he is falling for her he sets out to win her over. His big family gets in his way a few times but they all act out of love. It is a great romance, a fun, light-hearted, entertaining love story. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
I loved that the story is modern day, there are some steamy scenes once they face the fact that they are falling for each other and realize it is exactly what they want. So, if that is a problem for you, be aware. However, Noah is not only a great contractor but also a professional in the bedroom. He really sets the sheets on fire. Even there they both still have fun. It is just a good read, a good story and I definitely recommend it. There are no bad guys, no violence, no drugs, crime, etc. Just a good story about two every day people finding their HEA.

This is the first time I've had the pleasure of reading this author's work, and I am thoroughly impressed. So much so; that I just went to her site and ordered the rest of this series. That's saying something, because I very rarely do that kind of thing. I loved her writing style, the plot of the story, her witty characters and their realistic heart-felt dialogue, the whole loveable cast of characters...including the close dynamics of both of the family units.
The story itself grabbed me from the first page, and wouldn't let go until the last page was turned. I understand why Finley felt the way she did, and who wouldn't feel that way under the same circumstances? Trust is one of the biggest parts of any great relationship, and when that's gone, it's so hard to ever trust anyone again. And even though Finley had her trust issues, she didn't try to shut everyone out. She was also very grateful for the help Noah & Abbey gave her. They both let her be her, and that went a long way, when it came to re-gaining her trust. Smart move!!!
And Noah, what a man!!! Noah is probably one of the most “real” guys I have ever read in a book, and I would take him over any rich dude, anytime. He was what I would refer to as a "real man". He didn't push her, or boss her around. He patiently waited for her to come around, without issuing some crazy ultimatium, like some men would have done. He listened to all her wants and needs, and only stepped in when he felt she was getting in over her head. When he ex showed up, he supported her and protected her, instead of acting on his first impulse and going all Alfa on the guy. Kudo's to Noah!!!
I can't wait to delve into the next few books. If they are anything like this one, I am going to be one happy camper! ;)

Fix Her Up was a quick, light read. I really enjoyed the sweet tone of the book and the characters felt like they could have been old friends of mine.
One of my favorite things about Carey Heywood’s books is how familiar her characters. I’ve never felt a disconnect with her characters, as they are all incredibly relatable. It was no different in Fix Her Up. Each character gave me things to root for about them, while still having flaws that made them feel human. I found myself wanting to know more about Noah’s siblings and can’t wait to get more of their stories in the future.
The best part of Fix Her Up, for me, was the parallels drawn between Finley and her house. When the story started, they were both broken down and maybe beyond what some people would deem salvageable. Seeing Noah patiently work with Fin to repair both herself and her house was quite endearing. There were also reminders throughout that there is more to repairing people and houses than just fixing what’s broken and that message felt like one of the most important parts of the book.
I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Fix Her Up. It was a fast, fun evening read for me. I wish there were a little more conflict, as there were a few times where I felt it was coming, but it was quickly glossed over. All in all though, it was a book worth spending a few hours enjoying.
